Custom Digital Lineups

Before or after you import channels with program guide data for a custom lineup, you can change your analog lineup to a digital lineup.

To do this, select ATSC or QAM  from the Type drop-down menu.

Should I pick ATSC or QAM?

ATSC is the broadcast standard for over-the-air HDTV. Use if your TV source is a digital antenna.

QAM is a standard for HDTV over RF cable. Use if you are capturing HD channels from a commercial cable provider, or if your channels are generated in-house.

ATSC

When a digital option is selected, the appearance of the channel list will change.

The following options are available for ATSC channels.

  • Name
  • Callsign
  • Physical Channel: Represents the RF frequency on which the channel is broadcast.
  • Major Channel/Minor ChannelDefine the location of the data within the stream.

Note: For ATSC, all channel number settings must be entered correctly in order for the tuners to capture a signal.

QAM

The following options are available for QAM channels.

  • Name
  • Callsign
  • Guide Channel: Determines the position of this channel in the SnapStream program guide. This does not affect the ability of the tuners to capture the channel.
  • Physical Channel: This setting represents the RF frequency on which the channel is broadcast.
  • Program Number: This is the "subchannel" number of the broadcast.
  • QAM Type: There are several different types of QAM, which use slightly different frequencies. Options are IRC, HRC, and US Cable.

Note: For QAM, the QAM Type, Physical Channel and Program Number must be entered correctly in order for the tuners to capture a signal. The Guide Channel setting is arbitrary and does not affect the ability to tune the signal.
